did they say "two hopes"? eph 4:4 ugh
I've got to remember that one
took one for the team tonight, and went along to the memorial.
my first time in a kingdom hall for just over a month.
it was as expected, dry, boring and extremely uninteresting.

we have been researching our ancestry and so far on my father's side we have located the family land in wales in a little village called machynileth just off the coast of cardigan bay and our search dates to 1749. someday my son and i will visit our family-tree homesteads in europe.. legends develop in anyone's family and one of the curious legends was of an american native tribe called the mantan who lived near the ohio valley and wisconsin and later moved east to the dakotas.
what was interesting about the story of these peoples is that they were blue-eyed and some green-eyed with lighter skin and it was thought early on by anthropologists that some of their words were welsh.
it turns out they were not descendents of welsh explorers but they may have been the result of earlier encounters with europeans.

DD- there seems to be several spellings of the tribe's name or how it gets translated into our sounds and with our letters. sbf- the Scandinavian/Viking connection does seem the more plausible reason for their lighter features, maybe some DNA testing on the few remaining tribal members will give us the details.
I'm not that concerned about the spelling as much as the identity associated with the link I posted. I assume by your answer, they are the same? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mandan_people

Are you talking about Mantan or the Mandan people http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mandan_people ?
why do jws celebrate jesus dying rather than his resurrection?
i was talking to my boyfriend about this last week, and he said, "it's way more important that he died.
" i kind of thought the whole coming back to life thing was a bigger deal, but whatevs.. .

I'm sure the Pharisees would be glad to celebrate his death as well. Jesus is more dangerous to them alive than dead. And when you think about their theology, they believe Michael resurrected not Jesus. Michael died (killed or suicide) somehow, Jesus (the angelman) was born, then Michael resurrects.
i am very angry, pent-up rage call it!
so you will understand why and with great ease this subject is able to flow off my tongue onto the keyboard, because this time of the year is worse than your christmas time jitters!
anxiety, stress, compulsive babbling nuts are invading our service groups!
...impossibliy undefinable Trinity make's absolutely no sense...
It makes more sense than what the JWs say, came down from heaven. What exactly is a "LIFE FORCE" anyway?
stuff that has happened to me and people of other religions that i've met and read about--it makes me wonder if the caretakers of "holy writings" haven't bent us with their theology and pedantry.. i don't think jesus wanted us to make a religion.. he offered an experience of faith that was first and foremost an invitation.
the gospels--even if half diluted with error can't dispel the experiences we feel if we accept these words at face value: john 7:17-18.. i can't stay on- going to doctors today.. thanks.
maeve.
No!
I think he wanted to make "religion" obsolete.
That’s what he did for me.
i've been journaling a lot the past couple of years....it was recommended to me by a therapist when my anger was boiling over.. so recently i decided to start an exercise: what would you tell them if they would listen?.
i've started listing my top 10 and it's interesting......i'm over all of the doctrinal insanity.....i'm forever indebted to the more scholarly among us that have put so much effort into research, writing, etc.!!!.
mine all focused on more 'human' subjects....emotions, pain, etc.
Terry
That's a great story. Just think of how many JWs babbies that will be denied his help.

Gal 5:4
YOU are parted from Christ, whoever YOU are that try to be declared righteous by means of law; YOU have fallen away from his undeserved kindness.
"so they asked him, "what miraculous sign then will you give that we may see it and believe you?
31 our forefathers ate the manna in the desert; as it is written: 'he gave them bread from heaven to eat.
'" 32 jesus said to them, "i tell you the truth, it is not moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my father who gives you the true bread from heaven.
51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world."
The funny thing about this passage is that JWs don't believe what Jesus said anyway. I've asked countless JWs "what exactly came down from heaven?" The only answer they can give is "nothing actualy came down".
theres a clear difference between prophecies (predictions of future events) and laws(stuff you should and shouldnt do).. now since xians always says jesus fullfilled the law, how does one fullfill a bunch of requirements like dont murder, dont worship idols, shave your beard like this etc.. there are 613 laws in the torah, jewish rabbis have done all the hard work and we have a nice list on wiki.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/613_mitzvot.
im confused which of those some how select a unique individual to be the unique messiah ?
then again there were many messiahs, every king and priest of israel and judea was a messiah.

You are free to believe what you want, thats fine, but look how flimsy your argument is. Stop telling me what you believe and show me the facts. Go check a dictionary what "believe" actually means. Its quite a disappointing word to use because it shows you have no rational reason to support a point of view. By this definition you have admitted you cant actually prove that assertion in this case from the BIble which is your authority.
I’m admitting nothing of the sort, I’m attempting to give you what YOU asked for, (though it probably was a fool’s errand). There are many more, some in the Torah, many in other parts of the OT and in the NT. For example, Jesus is MY Passover lamb from Exodus, offered once for all.
Since you claimed you don’t believe in Moses writings anyway. I should leave you (and Rambam) with some of the words Jesus gave the Jewish leaders of his day.
John 5:36 But I have greater witness than that of John, for the works which the Father has given Me that I should finish them, the works which I do themselves witness of Me, that the Father has sent Me. 37 And He sending Me, the Father Himself, has borne witness of Me. Neither have you heard His voice at any time nor seen His shape. 38 And you do not have His Word abiding in you, for you do not believe Him whom He has sent. 39 You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life. And they are the ones witnessing of Me, 40 and you will not come to Me that you might have life. 41 I do not receive honor from men. 42 But I know you, that you do not have the love of God in you. 43 I have come in My Father's name, and you do not receive Me. If another shall come in his own name, him you will receive. 44 How can you believe, you who receive honor from one another and do not seek the honor that comes from God only? 45 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father; there is one who accuses you, Moses, in whom you trust. 46 For if you had believed Moses, you would have believed Me, for he wrote of Me. 47 But if you do not believe his writings, how shall you believe My Words?
